Below is a list of the most common questions we are frequently asked. These questions are broken up into sections on pricing, item availability, pattern info, store policies, custom requests and info, materials and supplies, conventions, and more.

We ask that you please read the FAQs below before sending us a message, as your question may already be answered here. Of course, if you do not find the answer you are looking for, you can always send us an email and we will happily answer it for you.

ORDERS

Each order has its own processing time. Ready to ship items ship approx 5-7 days after you place your order.

Preorder items are made after you place your order. Processing times vary for each preorder item in our shop; some take 1-2 weeks while others can take up to 4 weeks before they ship. Estimated processing times for an item will be listed in the item's description, as well as the top banner of our site. Processing times listed throughout our shop are estimates only, and should only be used as an estimate, not a guarantee.

We are usually very prompt but are only 2 people, so processing times can slow down during releases and busy times of the year. We appreciate your patience as we work through our order queue ♥︎

Please place a 2nd order, then email us at hello@rhiandddept.com with both order numbers. We will combine your orders and refund shipping overages. We will only combine orders if we have not already sent out the first order, so please let us know ASAP.

PLEASE NOTE: Blankets and apparel items ship from our warehouse so we are unable to combine these items with existing orders.

You can cancel your order within 3 days of your order date. All our products are made to order, therefore we don’t accept any cancellations once we have begun crafting your order. You can request an order cancellation by contacting us at hello@rhiandddept.com.

Any custom orders or products that have personalization can not be cancelled once ordered.

Our apparel is printed and shipped by a warehouse. If you order any apparel with other items, you will receive one package from us (plush, stickers, pins, etc.), and one package from our warehouse with any apparel items. You will receive two separate tracking numbers for both packages.

We are very sorry, but we are not responsible for any damaged or lost mail and therefore do not offer refunds for such. Please contact us immediately however, and we will work with you to fix things. If an item arrives damaged, please include detailed photos of the item that clearly show the damage, as well as pictures of the shipping package and label. Please see our Return & Refunds Policy for further info.

Oh no, we're very sorry! Please promptly email us at hello@rhiandddept.com with your order number and issue. We will then either request you send us the item back and issue a refund (minus shipping costs) or send you a replacement. Please see our Return & Refunds Policy for further info.

SHIPPING

All orders (excluding apparel and blankets which ship from a warehouse in the U.S.) are packaged and shipped from Florida, United States.

All products in our store have their own specific shipping costs calculated at checkout. The price of shipping is based on shipping address and weight. Statues all ship USPS Priority tracked which is calculated at checkout.

Shipping speed is determined by the shipping level you choose at checkout. We have no control over shipping speed.

Estimated shipping delivery times are as follows:

  • United States (Domestic):  1-10 business days for First Class //  3-5 days for Priority
  • Canada, Mexico, & Alaska:  1-2 weeks
  • Rest of the world:  2-8 weeks

Please note that these are only estimates based on our own experiences shipping to these locations. Actual delivery times depend on your country's customs process and postal services. Upon purchasing from our shop, you agree to these possible delivery times.

Please allow at least 8 weeks from shipment date to pass before you inquire about your order.

We use USPS for all shipping. Orders are automatically shipped as First Class Package Mail (with some exceptions*) unless Priority shipping is purchased during checkout.

You can choose USPS Priority shipping for an additional fee during checkout (Domestic orders only). Priority shipping costs extra and will be calculated at checkout.

We do not offer expedited shipping for international orders at this time.

Shipping times are completely out of our hands, therefore we do not guarantee orders will be delivered by a specified date. You may pay for overnight or expedited shipping if you want to try and receive your order by a specific date, however the additional shipping payment is due BEFORE we ship your item and we do not offer any guarantee on its arrival date.

If your order arrives later than you are wanting, we do not offer any refunds or returns, period. We do not accept returns or issue refunds on any items that do not arrive in time for holidays/events as we make no promises or guarantees for these time sensitive deliveries.

Send us an email with your order number and new shipping address. We will update the address and let you know if any extra shipping costs are owed. If your new shipping address has a higher shipping cost, the extra owed will be due before we ship your item.

If an addressee does not accept/pick up a package and the order is shipped back to us, the buyer covers repeat shipping costs.

We do not offer refunds if buyer decides to not pay repeat shipping costs.

We are currently not shipping to the UK (or Europe) due to the new laws on exporting plushies/toys. We suggest making a plan with a friend in the US who can purchase for you then ship to you. Feel free to email us at hello@rhiandddept.com to ask about a different location and we will do our best to set up a custom order depending on that location.

Due to unprecedented inflation in the US and supply chain crises, we are temporarily ceasing international orders/shipping. If you'd like to discuss this further send us an email and we will do our best to work around this for you. We appologize for this inconvenience and greatly appreciate your understanding during this time ♥︎

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

We only accept returns and exchanges for items that were incorrectly filled in your order. WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS OF APPAREL OR BLANKETS due to sanitary reasons. Please be sure to double check your measurements for all apparel. We also do not accept returns on any items that do not arrive in time for holidays/events as we make no promises for these time sensitive deliveries. We also do not offer refunds for any damaged, lost or stolen packages; once your order leaves our studio it is completely out of our control. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but there are no exceptions.

Please email us at hello@rhiandddept.com promptly with your order number and reason for returning. Once the items have been returned in brand new condition, you will be issued a refund or have your item exchanged. Shipping charges (both original and return) will not be refunded.

  • Contact us within: 3 days of delivery (contact us before initiating a return)
  • Return items within: 14 days of delivery with proof of postage
  • You’ll receive your refund: after the item is returned back to us and in our possession

The following items cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • Custom or personalized orders*
  • Digital downloads (this includes PDF sewing, crochet, and ITH patterns)
  • Items sold in person
  • Items on sale
  • Stickers
  • Apparel or blankets (for sanitary reasons)
  • Gift Cards (eligible purchases with gift cards can be returned for store credit, but there are no cash refunds)

* we cannot accept refunds or exchanges for custom made items, except if they arrive terribly damaged. If that is the unfortunate case, please contact us as soon as you receive your item so we can evaluate the damage and discuss options.

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, free of rips/stains/odors, etc., with tags, and in its original packaging (this includes any tissue paper or other packing materials). Any freebies sent along with your order must be returned as well.

The item must look, feel, and smell exactly as it did brand new when we shipped it to you.

Buyers are responsible for return postage costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. If the item is not returned in its original packaging or without original packing materials, the cost for the loss of materials will be taken out of your refund. We’re sorry, but we do not offer any exceptions.

We reserve the right to refuse a refund for any items returned not in their original condition.

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund; we have no control over how quickly your financial institution refunds you, so please do not ask us about this.

RELEASE SCHEDULE

Our major collection launches occur during the following times throughout the year:

  • April — Spring Collection begins
  • June — Summer Collection begins
  • Late Aug / Early Sept — Halloween & Harvest Collection begins
  • Early November — Christmas & Winter Collection begins

We regularly release new items throughout the year which are not part of major collection launches. To get notified when we release new items, sign up for our free newsletter and follow us on Instagram!

ITEM AVAILABILITY & RESTOCKS

Most of our items are preorder and therefore never truly "out of stock". If a product is sold out, it will most likely be made available again for purchase within a few days.

Limited Edition and seasonal items, however, are different. We only allow a certain pre-determined amount to be ordered; once they are sold out, they will not be made available again until a later date.

You can sign up for restock alerts to be notified by email when an item is back in stock. The sign up is at the top of a sold out item's listing.

If you don't see an item you're looking for, chances are it's no longer something we make. However, you can always message us and request us to restock the item you want or have us make it for you.

If an item is listed as 'sold out' you can sign up to be notified by email when the product is back in stock. If an item you want is no longer available on our store, you can sign up for our free newsletter to be notified of new items, or message us to inquire about the item you want.

PRICING

Items in our store are always subject to change. Sometimes these increases can happen within a day or two after viewing it, or several months. Increases in price rarely happen in our store, however occasionally occur due to the following reasons:

  • The cost of materials to make the item have increased and we need to increase the item's cost to account for this
  • * Supply and demand; either the demand is high and the supply is limited, or the demand is high therefore an increase in price is justifiable (welcome to capitalism!)
  • We've added greater detail and quality to the item (i.e. embroidered details instead of previously used fabric paint and applique), or have replaced our previous plush fleece plushies with higher-quality (and more expensive) minky fabric

If you view an item at a specified price, and then return later and the price has increased, then the new price is the one we honor, regardless of how long ago you viewed the item. We do not offer any exceptions to this.

Prices reflect the quality of the pattern itself and the complexity of the instructions. Older patterns which do not include as many details, for example, may be priced lower than more complicated or detailed patterns which include more information. Pattern prices also reflect the amount of time and work that went into creating the pattern itself, as well as the .PDF instructions and tutorial accompanying the pattern.

Unfortunately hand crafted work does tend to run pretty high cost-wise! Keep in mind that on top of material costs we also need to account for our time and expertise, overheads like machine maintenance, rent, power, etc, and business taxes. We do understand that prices can get pretty high and we're always open to discussing budgets and payment plans. See our blog post "How We Price Our Work" for more on the subject!

Creating a custom plush stuffed animal takes a lot of time and work. The price of a custom commission varies based on the size, type of materials, amount of detail, and the timeframe you are looking to have it completed. Our custom plush commissions are priced fairly and tend to run around the average price compared to other custom plush creators. Some are much cheaper but don't use the same high-quality fabrics or details that ours do. You get what you pay for. Our custom plush also come with a lifetime repair guarantee, meaning if your custom plush rips or falls apart at all during its lifespan, you can send it back to us and we will repair it for you, free of charge (minus shipping costs).

We do not offer wholesale pricing. We do offer bulk orders (i.e. if you want to order several items or several of one item.) We do not, however, offer discounts on bulk orders, but you will save on shipping!

Yes, our sales are announced via social media and email. To be notified of when we have an upcoming sale, sign up for our newsletter (it comes with a bonus discount!) and follow us on our social media platform.

For discounts, you can join our free rewards program and earn points towards free stuff. If you purchase something from our store and leave us a review, you can earn 10% off your next order.

We do not, sorry! We already charge the lowest price we reasonably can for most of our items. We do, however, offer a 10% discount code if you subscribe to our email newsletter. It's completely free and we send discounts and free stuff! :) We also occasionally send out discounts to our newsletter subscribers. You can also sign up for our free rewards program which rewards you with discounts for purchases made.

No; all discount codes apply only to ready-to-ship and preorder items in our shop, not to custom commissions.

PATTERN INFORMATION

Of course! You are welcome to sell products made from our various patterns. A few notes on what you can and cannot do with our patterns:

✅ Use the products you create with our patterns for gifts for friends & family

✅ Use our patterns to create personal projects for yourself

✅ Use the finished products for giveaways and fundraisers

✅ Sell the finished project online or in person

✅ Always credit us as the creators of the pattern design (i.e. "Pattern by Rhi & D Dept" and a link to our website www.RhiAndDDept.com)

❌ Sell or redistribute the pattern (do not sell the .PDF instructions, nor the pattern template)

❌ Claim the pattern as your own design (see more about crediting us below)

❌ Alter the pattern to sell as your own

❌ Use our patterns for mass production

❌ Use the pattern template or accompanying tutorial/instructions to make digital products for sale

❌ Use our photos for your own listings

❌ Forget to credit us as the owners and creators of the pattern and tutorial

All we ask is that you please give us credit and do not sell the pattern, photos, templates, or instructions/tutorials themselves for profit ♥︎ We work very hard on all our patterns and creating the detailed instructions and layouts for them takes more time than creating the plush itself.

No. You are not allowed to share or distribute the pattern in any way or format. Please read through our Pattern terms and conditions. We copyright our patterns and freely distributing them without permission is illegal and will be heavily pursued by our legal team.

No. Everything in the pattern instructions (all photos, the instructions, PDF design, and template) belong to us. The finished product you create from our patterns belongs to you however. That said, you must still give us credit for using the pattern to create your project.

Simply put in your listing:  "Pattern by Rhi & D Dept" or "Created using a Rhi & D Dept pattern" and please also leave a link back to our website in your listing (www.rhiandddept.com). If you are selling in person, a simple sign that says "[YOUR ITEM] created from a Rhi & D Dept pattern" is totally fine.

  • Crediting an artist keeps you in good standing with your customers (customers don't like being lied to!)
  • It's the right thing to do (passing off other people's work as your own is never right)
  • Crediting is a way to say "Thanks" to us for creating the pattern
  • In some cases, it's illegal to not give credit or pass off work as your own
  • We put a lot of effort, time, thought, and love (and maybe a few cat hairs along the way) into our patterns, and not crediting us hurts our business and other people who would like to use our patterns

Yes, you are welcome to alter any of the patterns you purchase from us. However, you are still not allowed to sell the altered pattern as it is classified as Derivative Work (i.e. use our body pattern and attach a different head pattern, to sell or claim as your own). You do still need to credit us when selling items made from the altered pattern, as that too is Derivative Work.

After purchasing one of our patterns, you will receive an email with a link to download the pattern you bought.

In most cases this is totally fine, as we do allow people to sell products made from our patterns. However please contact us if you see any of the following: Someone who is using our images, someone who claims our design is their own unique pattern, or someone impersonating us. (We only sell through our official shop website and in person).

If you have any problems with our patterns, contact us and we'll be happy to help. If a pattern doesn't seem easy to follow, or just seems down right bad, please contact us before leaving a negative review, as there is always a way for us to help you and to improve our patterns!

No, refunds are never offered for any of our digital downloads, including patterns. We offer a handful of free patterns which are a great way to test them out and see if you like our style before purchasing one.

There will be NO refunds made because of not reading the titles, photos and descriptions clearly stating a listing is a digital item.

An Exclusive Pattern License is a pattern that is exclusively designed by us for you, and you only. We will not sell the pattern nor plushies made from it in our shop at any point. You are free to distribute the pattern as you wish, and use the pattern however you would like. However, you are NOT allowed to claim credit for designing the pattern. You must still attribute the design/creation of the pattern itself to us (Rhi & D Dept). Pricing varies, depending on the pattern’s complexity, and whether or not you plan on using it for commercial use.

If you are looking to purchase patterns for manufacturing or other commercial uses, this falls into a separate category. Pricing for this is very high. For this we create a legal binding contract passing off ownership of the pattern to you, and therefore legal terms do apply.

CUSTOMS & SUGGESTIONS

Currently we have a long (and I mean very, very long) list of things we want to make in the future. If it’s anime, gaming, nerd, or paranormal related then chances are your idea is on our list. How soon we make them depends on our workload at any given time and how long each project takes. However, we are always open to suggestions ♥︎

Yes, you can! Custom variations/requests are always welcome on any of our products, even if it’s not exclusively stated on a product’s listing. Fabric colors, paint colors for statues, and colors on stickers can be swapped out at no extra charge (simply leave a note in the "Instructions for Seller" section at checkout). Making alterations or additions to plush embroidery or overall shape of of the plush or statue will incur an extra fee. Please contact us to discuss the changes you'd like made.

No, we do not accept fabric from anywhere other than the manufacturers we buy our fabric from. This is due to severe allergies that we've dealt with from previous buyers sending us their own fabric, so we only use the specific fabrics we buy ourselves. We're sorry, but there are no exceptions to this. If you send us unsolicited fabric or other materials when we ask you not to, we will throw them away. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the reality of things.

CONVENTIONS & EVENTS

Perhaps, depending on the type of event it is, where it is, and our availability at that time. We do frequent paranormal/cryptozoological/UFO conventions, anime conventions, comicons, gaming conventions, and arts & crafts events.

We don't currently have any plans to attend upcoming events, however may look into it in the future. Possible events we may attend are:

  • Anime Festival Orlando (June)
  • MetroCon in Tampa, FL (July)
  • MegaCon Orlando, FL (August)
  • Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant, VA (September)

We will announce our Events Schedule for the year once the time draws nearer. Please check back around March and sign up for our newsletter to be notified of upcoming event appearances.

We plan on exhibiting and selling items at the Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant, WV in September of every year. Please note the items we will be selling there are only Mothman-themed, but it’s a great way to scoop up some discounted Mothman merch!

🫧 SAFETY, CLEANLINESS, & ALLERGY INFO 🫧

Our studio is completely smoke free (this includes free of e-cigarettes, vaping, traditional cigarettes, cigars, and weed/joints). We do, however, have a cat. Our cat is a hypo-allergenic breed and not allowed in our studio, however it is possible for cat hair to spread in the air. Please keep this in mind when commissioning or ordering from us. Order at your own risk, especially if your allergies are severe.
