Plush Care Guide

Unboxing Your Plush

Your new plush friend has made a long journey to get to you and is excited to greet you!

  • Carefully slice open the package tape. Make sure you don't stab too deeply into the box and accidentally stab your plushie!
  • Unwrap the tissue paper cradling your plush
  • Remove any extra items (card, stickers, etc.)
  • Lift your plush from the box
  • Remove the tag tied around your plushie
  • Give it a hug and enjoy your new plush companion! ♥︎

Spot Cleaning & Dusting

Our plush toys are normally made of plush minky fabric or fluffy plush fabric. These fabrics are made from artificial materials, and therefore require special care when being cleaned. If your new plushie pal is handled regularly, it may occasionally need to be spot cleaned. We recommend lightly spot cleaning your plush friend with the following methods:

  • Spot clean your plush with some lukewarm water, gentle soap or detergent (preferably one without dyes/perfumes like Tide Free & Gentle), and a clean towel or soft toothbrush
  • Rub the towel or toothbrush carefully but firmly on the stain
  • Allow the cleaned area to dry naturally
  • Other than soap/detergent, you can also use rubbing alcohol, alcohol cleaning wipes, and baking soda
  • Use a lint roller to remove any dust, fuzzies, or other light debris from your plush

Washing Your Plush

We do not recommend machine washing your plush stuffed animal, especially handmade and custom plushies. However, if you do, we recommend the following:

  • Place your plush in a large pillow case or mesh garment bag to minimize the amount of water and detergent that saturates the filling inside
  • You can also place a few towels or blankets in the load to help “pad” the plush as it goes through the wash
  • Choose the gentlest cycle on your machine
  • Use cold or cool water
  • Do not use fabric softener (doing so can alter and ruin the texture and feel of minky fabric)
  • Use a tiny bit of mild detergent (preferably one without dyes/perfumes like Tide Free & Gentle)
  • Dry your plush by laying out to air dry, using a hair dryer on the lowest setting, or machine dry your plush on the lowest heat setting (do not add dryer sheets)

Misshapen and/or Wrinkly Plushies

We carefully package your plush with plenty of room and padding (we never squish them tightly into boxes), but sometimes we need to gently fold some appendages (such as Mothman plush antennae or bat plush wings). If your plush arrives with wrinkles, don't worry! These usually go away on their own after a short while by just petting and hugging your plush, but you can follow these steps to speed up the process:

  • Smoothing out the folded or wrinkly plush parts
  • Gently unfurling the plushie part in the opposite direction (antennae, bat wings, etc.)
  • Gently yet firmly knead your plush pal (like you would a pillow)

Handling and Playing with Your Plush

All our plushies are handmade and therefore not recommended for extremely rough play. However, they still can tolerate some rough play. The majority of each of our plushies is machine sewn but some have a few hand-sewn parts. Our plushies can withstand hugging, squishing, playing, cuddling, sleeping with, and general handling. Rough pulling and tugging however can rip open some seams, so we advise against such extreme handling.

Plushies and Children

All our plushies are handmade and therefore not recommended for extremely rough play. You can however still give our plushies to children. Before doing so we recommend removing any tags and accessories that could be a choking hazard and supervise children under 5 years old. We are not liable for any incidents that may occur due to unsupervised play with our products.
